Your thought provoking editorial captioned Karachi Killings in todays The Nation January 16th has inspired me to compose a poem. The poem is written in iambic metre. Karachi killings Who has stolen your soft serenity? O city of lights, O city of lights How long will last the dance of death On your streets? O city of lights Your seething sea sobs and your sky does scream Angels are in awful anguish above But Satan smiles in sly satisfaction To see the man killing his own beings. More beastly the man has become than beasts No city ever saw such like searing scenes That you are seeing, O city of lights Alone God can stop this stark spill of blood. How this inferno will be doused, O Lord Waters of seven seas shall be far less. If we cease fighting over loves and fishes Only then shall there be serenity. MUBUSHAR ALI SULEHRIA, Wah Cantt, January 17.
