Pak golfer to appear in Dubai Classic Golf

LAHORE - Pakistan’s leading golfer M Munir, based on his performance in six events of the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) Golf Tour in 2012, has earned the honour of participating in the Omega Dubai Desert Classic Golf Championship to be held at the Emirates Golf Club Majlis Golf Course from January 30 to February 2.
This is a huge honour for Pakistan and a lifetime opportunity for Munir as he is the first Pakistani to be competing in this world level event and gets a chance to rub shoulders with world class golfers like Rory Mclroy, World No 1 and Tiger Woods.
The news about his confirmation as a participant in the Omega Desert Classic brought forth cheers from leading personalities of the golf scene like Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF) secretary Taimur Hassan, Punjab Golf Association secretary Brig (retd) Akram, Sindh Golf Association president Asad IA Khan and Director Golf of Royal Palm Golf Club Col(retd) Jameel Khalid. Taimur Hassan said here on Thursday: "I hope Munir avails this opportunity and comes up some extra spark and shows extra hunger in performing like a champion amongst world champions.”
Asad IA Khan stated: “Munir has ample skills and ability and he just has to hit the right notes at this world event, and he has our blessings and good wishes.”
Munir said: “I thank the Allah Almighty for giving me this opportunity and I am excited and look forward to competing and performing well in the Dubai Desert Classic."
