LAHORE – JAWAD R AWAN - The Tehreek Minhajul Quran (TMQ) on Thursday planned to launch an FIR against Interior Minister, Rehman Malik for the firing incident on their marchers during the clashes between Dr Tahirul Qadri loyalists and police.

However, this was planned before the long march declaration, which reached a conclusion after a meeting between the TMQ chairman and ruling coalition.

Informed sources privy to the developments talking to TheNation on Thursday claimed that TMQ would launch a FIR against Rehman Malik regarding the incident at D-Chowk, Islamabad, as they believe that the Interior Minister was behind the incident who wanted to teach them a lesson for not evacuating the federal capital.

They added that Rehman Malik had threatened the TMQ marchers for a targeted operation like Lal Masjid if they did not end the sit-in.

Malik in the start of the march while talking to the media said, “It will be a targeted operation just like the Lal Masjid”.

TMQ loyalist said that Rehman Malik told the local television channels shortly after security forces fired in the air, “We will not accept Qadri’s pressure because his demands are unconstitutional”.

However, the Interior Minister retreated from his stance when the President House directed not to carry out any operation, besides snubbing Rehman Malik.  But a group of TMQ leaders was of the strong opinion that Malik was behind the incident of D-Chowk.
