LAHORE - The Lahore High Court on Friday summoned a copy of the notification from Lahore Development Authority regarding reduction in commercialisation fee from 12 to six per cent. Justice Aysha A Malik directed the respondents to submit the copy of the notification till January 21.
The court was hearing a petition challenging the levy of 12% commercialisation fee on usage of the properties for commercial purposes. Earlier, the petitioners counsel argued that the Punjab government was already collecting the commercialisation tax from the citizens. However, it had started collecting 12% commercial fee from the citizens who were using their properties for commercial purposes, the lawyer added.
He added that the LDA could collect the commercialisation fee from the properties already fall in commercial zone. The petitioner requested the court to annul commercial fee. Representing the LDA, a law officer told the court that the authority had reduced the commercialisation fee from 12 to six percent. At this, the court directed the law officer to produce a copy of the notification regarding reduction in the commercialisation fee.
