LAHORE - Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has said that Muslims have been enslaved and their massacre would continue and they could not get rid of these problems until they follow the teachings of Holy Quran.

He was addressing the orientation ceremony of newly admitted students of BS Hons and MSc GIS at PU College of Information Technology. PUCIT Principal Dr Mansoor Sarwar, faculty members and a large number of students were present on the occasion. Addressing the ceremony, Dr Kamran said the nations that created knowledge were rewarded by the nature with respect, wealth and power. He said that the silent genocide of Muslims was continuing and we were facing these problems only because of our distance from creation of knowledge. He said that we must be strong physically, psychologically and spiritually. He said that the students had talent and countless abilities and there was need to polish them.

Addressing the ceremony, PUCIT principal said that the future of the country lies in the hands of students and they are expected to show superior performance for country’s bright future. He said that the merit of the college had increased as compared to the previous year and the administration had to reject 94 applications to admit one student on merit in BS program.

He said that 14,600 students applied for entry test, 13,449 appeared and 720 students were admitted on merit. He said that when he took charge of the college in April 2006, there was no faculty member having a doctorate but now there were 16 PhD teachers, 41 MS/M Phil teachers and 22 teachers were enrolled in PhD program while the college had 62 regular faculty members. He advised the students to follow the social norms of average Pakistani and follow university rules and regulations.
