LAHORE - Lahore DIG (Operations) Dr Haider Ashraf has awarded punishments to 27 policemen including 11 Station House Officers (SHOs) on various charges of corruption and misuse of power, a police spokesperson said on Saturday.

Hearing the appeals of police officials at police headquarters, the Operations chief also dismissed a constable from service over his long absence from the duty.

The DIG also awarded punishments including demotions, forfeitures of service and deduction in salaries to 26 police officials including 11 SHOs.

As per details, the DIG ordered forfeiting of six months service of Nolakha police station SHO Ghulam Abbas, Millat Park SHO Ghulam Bari, Township SHO Sibtain Shah, Johar Town SHO Imran Pasha and Woman police station Race Course SHO Bushra Aziz. Similarly, the DIG censured to five other SHOs over poor performance. He also imposed fine on at last seven police officers on different charges including delay in the registration of cases and absence from duty.

On this occasion, the DIG warned the policemen of stern action against any involvement in malpractice. He directed the policemen to perform their duties with dedication and commitment as the country has been facing serious security challenges.

SUSPENDED: Lahore DIG (Operations) Haider Ashraf has suspended SHO Green Town police station Inspector Sharif Sindhu from service for telling a lie.

A police spokesperson detailed that CCPO Muhammad Amin Wains visited the Green Town police station the other day and expressed his displeasure after witnessing unhygienic conditions in the police station. The CCPO was told by the SHO that there was no sweeper in police station. Later, the CCPO was informed that the sweeper had already been posted in the police station and the SHO told him a lie.
