LAHORE: At least 70 suspected extremists have been arrested from the provincial capital during the last two days as a major police crackdown is underway against the elements involved in printing or distribution of hatred material and misusing loudspeaker.

“More than 4655 persons were checked during the search operations. The police detained 70 suspected persons as they failed to provide identification,” a police official said on Saturday. Similarly, police also took legal action against 134 persons for violating the ban on loudspeaker, making provocative speeches. DIG Haider Ashraf said that police were implementing the national action plan with full force and no one would be allowed to spread sectarianism in the society.–Staff Reporter
