BAHAWALPUR -The Punjab government has issued directives to all the price control magistrates throughout the province to send the vendors and shopkeepers found overcharging to jails in accordance with the summary trial rather than imposing fines.

The government took the decision after record price drop of petroleum products thrice but despite that the public transporters did not reduce transport fares. The commuters have been made to pay not only old fares but also are being overcharged.

It has been learnt that the Punjab Industries Department has issued directives in this regard. Now, the area price magistrate should conduct raids on hotels, shops, restaurants and bus stands while action should be taken against the vendors who are found overcharging.

SECURITY FOR ANTI-POLIO DRIVE: DPO Sarfraz Ahmad Falki has deployed additional squads for security of anti-polio vaccination teams during the ongoing campaign in 102 union councils of the district.

According to the DPO office spokesman, 10 to 15 additional police personnel have been deployed in every police station across the district to deal with any emergency regarding anti-polio campaign.
