LAHORE - The Cancer Care Hospital and Research Centre has started to train nurses at Allama Iqbal Medical College. Prof Pamela from the United States and Nursing Consultant from England, Jelly Burn, will impart training to nurses selected to perform duties at (CCH). Speaking at a ceremony at Allama Iqbal Medical College on Saturday, CCH President Prof Shaharyar said that the purpose of training was to equip nurses with latest techniques so that they could provide proper treatment to cancer patients.  He said that CCH would be a 60-bed hospital at the initial stage; however, its capacity would be enhanced in phases. He said that free treatment facilities would be provided to cancer patients of all stages.

UHS declares results

University of Health Sciences declared Second Professional Annual Examination result on Saturday. As many as 4559 candidates from 31 public and private sector medical colleges appeared in the examination out of which 3157 passed whereas 1318 failed. The overall pass percentage remained 69.25 per cent.

Umair Farooq of Allama Iqbal Medical College got first position, securing 866/1000 marks. Nafeesa Liaqat Ali of Nawaz Sharif Medical College Gujrat got second and Sehar Amjad Chaudhry of Fatima Memorial College of Medicine and Dentistry Lahore bagged third position securing 853/1000 and 850/1000 marks respectively. Supplementary Examinations will start from March 3.–Staff Reporter
