KP police arrest 550 suspects during op

PESHAWAR  - The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police in the ongoing search and strike operations thoughout the province have rounded up 435 suspects and 115 illegal Afghan refugees and recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition.
As per details during the last two days the police, in the operation conducted in different parts of the province, recovered 189 arms and ammunition of different kinds and 5516 rounds of different bores.
During the operation, 1617 houses and 548 hotels were checked and 61 cases were registered against the violators. During the snap checking on 161 check points, 245 suspects were held and recovered 8 arms of different kinds and 257 cartridges of different bores.
During the action against illegal Afghans, a total of 115 persons were detained. Security inspections of 1496 educational institutions were also carried out and various institutions were advised to further beef up security arrangements.
Peshawar police thwart terror bid
Khazana police thwarted a major sabotage bid by defusing three bombs in and magnetic grenades near Khurasan camp, jurisdiction of Khazana police station, on Saturday.
Sources said that the Police was informed by some people that a suspected drum containing explosive material is lying near a drainage in Khurasan camp.
Following the information, the police rushed to the area and called Bomb Disposal Unit to defuse the explosives.
The explosives included magnetic hand grenade, water bubble bomb and prima cards.
