LAHORE - The 142th birth anniversary of legend Maulana Zafar Ali Khan is being celebrated under the aegis of Maulana Zafar Ali Khan Trust today (Sunday).

Different ceremonies will be held to pay homage to Maulana across the country.

Maulana Zafar Ali Khan was the first politician of Punjab who raised voice against the British rule in the Subcontinent. Through his writings Maulana wanted to free the nation from the yoke of slavery.

“Zamindar”, a popular newspaper, published under Maulana’s editorship, played a leading role in Pakistan Movement. Maulana had the honour to translate a resolution presented in English language to Urdu on the historic occasion.

Maulana fought for his nation’s rights through out his life. Recognising Maulana’s contributions, the Punjab government established Maulana Zafar Ali Khan Trust that initiated Zafar Ali Khan Award.

An important sitting in this regard is being held at Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust. Important NPT and Zafar Ali Khan trust office bearers will attend the program.
