Islamabad - A week has passed since a newborn baby boy was kidnapped from Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), there is no clue to the whereabouts of the missing newborn and the parents continue to suffer.

Parent of the baby flanked by Jamaat Islami leader Zubair Farooq protested inside the hospital Saturday for non-recovery of their newborn despite the lapse of a week.

It is to be mentioned here that a veiled woman on January 10 had kidnapped a newborn child from the Children’s Hospital of PIMS.

An FIR was registered by the parents of the baby against an unidentified woman at Margalla Police Station. Meanwhile, separate cases were also filed in Margalla and Aabpara police stations against the parents of the newborn along with others for blocking roads near the hospital and creating law and order situation when they protested outside the hospital.

Since then they have been protesting on and off on the hospital premises to vent their anger.

The protesters chanted slogans against the hospital administration for their negligence that failed to thwart such criminal attempt and demanded early and safe recovery of the child. “The mother is distraught and weeps all the time for her child. She is still admitted at the hospital. It was the first child of the couple and was delivered by cesarean section,” said Sabeen, one of the relatives. In late 2013 too a newborn was abducted from the hospital and later his body was recovered.

Shaheed Zuliqar Ali Bhutto (SZAB) Medical University Vice Chancellor Javed Akram said the hospital administration is doing everything it can. “The staff of the hospital is being questioned by the police and cooperating with them. The hospital has released a sketch of the alleged woman and half a million rupees have been announced as a prize money for giving any information about the woman,” he added. He said that the police have got some clue but keeping it secret. “I pray that we hear some good news soon,” he added.
