LAHORE- An anti-terrorism court (ATC) today awarded death sentence to a militant for his role in 2010 bomb and gun attack on an Ahmadi worship place in Lahore.

The convict, Maawia, was handed the sentence on nine counts. His accomplice, Abdullah, was awarded life imprisonment on nine counts.

Both the militants are members of proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The horrific attack was carried out in Lahore’s Model Town and Garhi Shahu localities, simultaneously on May 28, 2010 against Ahmadis, killing 86 people and wounding over 150 men and children.
