MIRPUR (AJK) - Expressing grave concerns over day-to-day crackdowns on innocent people across Indian Held Kashmir (IHK), Jammu Kashmir National Front (JKNF) Wednesday accused New Delhi of using coercive and cowardly tactics to crush the people’s aspirations in the held valley.

“It is jailing people, restricting them to their houses, conducting crackdowns on the pattern of nineties and claims that peace is prevailing in the disputed region”, a JKNF spokesperson said while talking to reporters here Wednesday evening.

The spokesperson continued that India has managed graveyard silence in the occupied valley by arresting political leadership including National Front chairman, Nayeem Ahmad Khan in concocted cases and filling jails with youths.

“Jail sentence of leaders like Nayeem Khan is being extended through judiciary. This situation is absolutely undemocratic and unethical”, he said and added “Kashmiris are just demanding fulfilment of promises made with them at local and international levels”.

The party’s spokespersons said that hundreds of Kashmiri prisoners in and outside Jammu Kashmir jails are going through tough times as courts are not willing to hear their cases on regular basis though the said prisoners are serving jail sentence since long.

The spokesperson said that the JKNF appeals to the local and international rights organizations to take notice of the plight of Kashmiri prisoners in the occupied valley. He said that prisoners have their rights as per law but in India, every Kashmiri man arrested on political grounds is seen as a criminal.
