LAHORE - The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leaders have wholly rejected the PAT-led opposition demand for resignation of Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan while terming the Mall protest rally a total failure and flop show.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Ministers Rana Sanaullah Khan, Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Bilal Yasin, Khwaja Imran Nazir, and CM adviser Rana Muhammad Arshad said the people rejected the opposition call for the protest, which indirectly was their expression of confidence in the PML-N government.

They said the opposition parties gathered at the Mall for politicising a matter which already was before the court, and vowed the government would implement whatever decision the court takes.

They said that the mainstream parties have exposed themselves and have lost their entity to the PAT Chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri, a Canadian citizen who is here with a specific agenda of creating chaos and disturbance in the country. The opposition will now follow Dr Qadri instead of exercising their own will and choice, they said foretelling a landslide victory of the PML-N in the next election.

Empty chairs show unpopularity of opp: Arshad

CM adviser Rana Arshad said that the empty chairs in the protest had exposed low popularity of the opposition parties when the protest was an abortive attempt to put pressure on the state institutions.

He said Model Town case was before the trial court and whatever the court decided the government would implement. As to the protest he said the failed show has taken the wind out of the Opposition’s sails and it would fail next time if ventured such event again.

Rana Arshad said Pakistani people and the world admitted the services of the Punjab government under the leadership of Shehbaz Sharif and the trust level in him had been increased even more after his nomination as next prime minister of the country.

He said the confidence shown by the people in the leadership of PML-N and its government was a guarantee to the party victory in the next election.

Days of ‘fixed matches’ are over: Marriyum

Staff Reporter adds from Islamabad: Minister of State for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Wednesday that days of “fixed matches” were now over.

She said the only match would be the general election to be held this year when the people would decide the victory and failure of all the political players.

The minister, while talking to media persons after attending launching ceremony of English poetry collection “The Mahogany Junction” here, said the entire nation had watched through media screens that those who were defeated in performance and politics by the Sharif brothers had also been rejected by the masses.

She said the protest on The Mall was not over the Model Town tragedy but a failed show of political power by an alliance against the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.

The minister said that it was an achievement of the PML-N and Nawaz Sharif that all the puppets of the “unknown fortune tellers” shared the same stage, which exposed their real faces.

Marriyum said that the opposition gathering was less in strength than even the public meeting of the PML-N councillors, which was a manifestation of the fact that the people of Pakistan had rejected their agitation movement.

“The days of such negative politics are over now and only those will come to power who delivered during the past four and half years,” she said.
