ISLAMABAD - The ICT Administration has intensified anti-profiteering drive in city to ensure sale of quality food items on control rates. The assistant commissioners and magistrates paid surprise visit in their respective jurisdiction on Friday and imposed fines amounting to Rs 5,500 on 11 profiteers. The profiteers were fined due to over-charging and selling sub-standard food items. Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad Amer Ali Ahmed directed the magistrates to ensure the quality of food items and complaints of consumers should immediately be addressed. According to details, Assistant Commissioner (Secretariat) Islamabad Capt (r) Shahbaz Tahir Nadeem conducted price checking in Bharakau and imposed fine amounting to Rs 2,000 on four profiteers for over-charging and not displaying the rate list of food items at their shops. He also imposed fine amounting to Rs 1,500 on three butchers for selling poor quality meat and not maintaining the hygienic conditions at the shops. The Assistant Commissioner (Secretariat) also conducted checking in the area of Simly Road and removed encroachments from the roadside. Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner (City) Farasat Ali Khan during price checking in Sector G-6 area markets, imposed fine amounting to Rs 2,000 on four profiteers for over charging and not displaying the rate list of food items.
