ISLAMABAD - The National Assembly Standing Committee on Education has decided to move the Supreme Court to nullify the jacking up of marks of Farah Hamid Dogar and suspend her admission in medical college. The decision was taken at a meeting of the committee, which met on Friday under the chairmanship of Abid Sher Ali. On the directives of the committee to cancel the admission of Farah Dogar in the medical college, the Education Secretary, Abdul Rauf said the ministry has no such authority as the daughter of the former Chief Justice of Pakistan has taken admission in the Islamic International Medical College where one seat was reserved for the children of judges and other staff. The committee recommended to decrease the additional marks of Farah Dogar and suspend her admission and give it to the daughter of another judge from AJK having 850 marks. On the apology of the Education Secretary saying that the government had no authority to do so the committee decided to file a writ petition in the Supreme Court for decrease in Farah marks and suspension of her admission in the medical college. The committee asked the Ministry of Education to present former FBISE Chairman, Commodore (Retd) Muhammad S Shamshad before the committee within 15 days at any cost. The issuance of arrest warrants of the former chairman and the involvement of Interpol was also recommended by the committee to the ministry. The Chairperson of the Federal Board, Shaheen Khan briefed the committee about the administration and operation of the board. Abid Sher Ali directed the chairperson to present complete details of all 481 staff members before the committee. The committee also sought details of salaries and incentives of boards officers, affiliated institutions and vehicles used by them. The committee member also suggested and asked the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the ministry to organize a seminar inviting Provincial Ministers, Secretaries of Education of all the Provinces, vice chancellors of all the universities, Standing Committees on Education of the four provinces, and other intellectuals to formulate a comprehensive education policy. The vice-chancellor of Karachi University Prof. Dr. Pir Zada Qasim gave presentation before the committee about the university matters.
