Heroes then, villains now

Shame on Pakistan cricket team and shame on Pakistan Cricket Board. A team that got skittled out for a paltry 97 runs and lost eight wickets on a batting wicket with two days to spare, thus, losing the first test in Sri Lanka from an almost impregnable position has no business to represent the country. It seems the praise showered on them for winning the 20-20 World Cup was too much for them. It has gone to their heads. If they were praised to the skies and given fabulous rewards then, they must now be condemned and punished. The fantastic amounts of money given to them, almost Rs. 5 million to a man, now must be taken back and their place in the team made strictly subject to some real good performance. -DR ZAHEER ASGHAR KHAN, Lahore, via e-mail, July 9.
