LAHORE - In order to inspect the land occupied by unauthorized persons in Journalist Colony, Lahore and formulate recommendations for its recovery from land mafia, a special committee accompanied by District Coordination Officer, Lahore Sajjad Bhutta will visit the colony on Sunday (today). The committee will comprise President Lahore Press Club Sarmad Bashir as well as officers of Revenue Department, LDA and PHA Lahore. It was decided in a meeting presided over by Senator Pervaiz Rashid on Saturday. Parliamentary Secretary Health Dr Saeed Elahi, MPA Syed Zaeem Qadri, Secretary Information, Culture & Youth Affairs Shoaib Bin Aziz, DCO Lahore Sajjad Bhutta, President Lahore Press Club, Deputy Secretary Information Department Shakeel Ahmad, Deputy District Officer Revenue Cantt, Saleh Saeed, officers of LDA and Revenue Departments as well as members of the Governing Body of Lahore Press Club Zia Ullah Niazi and Ansaar Zahid attended the meeting. Senator Pervaiz Rashid constituted a committee under the chairmanship of Dr Saeed Elahi which would review the pace of recovery of plots from illegal occupants in the Journalist Colony at a meeting to be held after one week. Similarly, a committee headed by Syed Zaeem Qadri will review issuance of NOCs to the members of the Journalists Colony. The meeting decided to send a summary to Chief Minister Punjab for providing alternate land for the illegally occupied plots in 'B Block of Journalist Colony and provision of land for the 'F Block of the colony. The office-bearers of Lahore Press Club demanded that instructions should be issued to Communication & Works Department for the reconstruction of the roads in the Journalist Colony which were damaged due to construction of the Ring Road. The meeting also reviewed the pace of development activities and the construction of boundary wall of the Colony. Addressing the meeting, Senator Pervaiz Rashid said that Punjab government believed in freedom of press and all out measures would be taken for the welfare of journalists community.
