ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has approved constitution of an independent commission to hire chief executives for state-owned enterprises.
Sources in the Prime Minister Office informed The Nation that the decision was taken in the light of the Supreme Court’s guidelines to ensure transparency in the appointment process. The decision was taken in a high-level meeting held under the chair of Prime Minister wherein it was decided that the proposed commission would function under the head of Federal Tax Ombudsman, while two civil society members of repute would be its members. The commission would be assisted by an international human resource firm, which would be selected through a competitive process. The sources further said that the two members of the commission from the civil society would be Shams Qasim Lakha and Dr. Ijaaz Nabi.
