LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif announced financial assistance of Rs10 million for the family of Sabir Hussain who was martyred in an operation against terrorists. He also announced Rs1 million each for injured personnel Muhammad Afzal, Sajid and Muzaffar Hussain.

The CM said that Shaheed Sabir Hussain laid down his life for the country’s future and the whole nation was proud of his sacrifice. He said the personnel faced terrorists with courage and bravery. He said the security institutions have displayed a high degree of professionalism during the anti-terrorism operation and set a noble example of courage and valour.

Meanwhile, former president Rafiq Tarar, Provincial Minister for Agriculture Dr Farrukh Javed and MPA Sheikh Allauddin met CM Shahbaz and presented cheques of Rs4.2 million for the IDPs of North Waziristan. On the occasion, the CM said Pak Army is fighting anti-terror war for the survival of the country and the whole nation is united against terrorism. He said the government and people of Punjab are standing by their displaced brethren at this hour of need. He said that an amount of Rs40 million has been distributed so far among more than 5,300 IDPs of North Waziristan on behalf of the Punjab government and the process of payments to the IDPs would be completed within next few days. He vowed that every penny of donations would be spent on the IDPs in a transparent manner.

Separately, the CM congratulated the security forces for conducting a successful operation against the terrorists in Pind Raiyan, Raiwind, and said that they foiled nefarious designs of the terrorists through their courage and professionalism. He appreciated the officers and jawans of law-enforcement agencies for countering terrorists and saboteurs with valour and bravery. He also paid tributes to the security official who was martyred in the operation and said that the whole nation is proud of their sacrifices. He directed the administration to provide best medical facilities to the personnel who sustained injuries in the operation.

Meanwhile, Minister of State for Education and Interior Balighur Rehman met the CM and discussed political issues and overall situation of the country. Shahbaz said the PML-N government is determined to cope with all challenges being faced by Pakistan. He said that terrorism will be rooted out, making the country a haven of peace.
