18 projects under CPEC to generate 13,880MW

ISLAMABAD - The government would start 18 power projects under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) worth of over $27 billion, which would produce 13880 megawatts of electricity in the country.
There are 18 power projects under the CPEC having total estimated cost of $27.083 billion, according to the official documents. The government would start one hydro power project at Suki Kinari, Mahsehra, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with estimated cost of $1.802 billion. The project would produce 870MW electricity.
The government would set up two hydro power projects in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The projects included 1100MW Kohal Power Project worth $2.4 billion, 720MW Karot Hydro Power Project worth $1.42 billion.
The government would set up three power projects in Punjab with total cost of $333.75 billion. The projects included 300MW coal based power project at Salt Range worth of $800 million, 1320MW Coal based power project at Sahiwal with cost of $1.6 billion and 1000MW Salar based power project at Bahawalpur with estimated cost of $1.35 billion.
According to the documents, the government would start nine power generation projects in Sindh under CPEC with total cost of $8.46 billion. The projects included 50MW wind based power project at Bhambore, Thatta with cost of $125 million. 50MW wind based power project at Jhimpir, Thatta with cost of $125. 50MW wind based power project at Jhimpir, Thatta with cost of $134. 100MW wind based power project Jhimpir, Thatta with cost of $250 million, 100MW wind based power project at Jhimpir, Thatta with cost of $150 million, $660MW coal based power project (SECMC) and mining at Thar with cost of $1.9 billion, 1320MW coal based power project (SSRL) and mining with cost of $2.5 billion, 1320MW coal based power project worth of $1.3 billion and 1320MW coal based power project at Port Qasim worth of $1.98 billion.
Meanwhile, the government would initiate three projects at Balochistan with estimated cost of $9.25 billion. These projects included 660MW coal based power project at Hub with cost of $970 million, 2640MW coal based power project at Gaddani with cost of $7.92 billion and 300MW coal based power project at Gwadar with cost of $360 million.
