ISLAMABAD - After achieving the highest generation of 16866MW this month, the Ministry of Water and Power is mulling hard to cross the psychological mark of 17000MW and bring down the blackouts duration to the minimum.
It is a highest generation record for the country and 88 percent of available de-rated capacity of 19100 MW, excluding 3000MW of KE, spokesman said. He said power generation increased this year due to better management.
We have surpassed the constraint of past year, which restricted supplies to 15500 MW, spokesman said, adding yesterday (Thursday) shortfall was around 3200 MW, adding that in urban areas 4-6 hours of loadshedding was observed, whereas in rural areas 7-8 hours and the loadshedding for industry remained 9 hours. He said the schedule varies in high losses area. He said during the whole month of Ramadan, overall uninterrupted supply was provided to areas, except where there are system constraints. He said during Eid holidays, the Ministry has issued special arrangements to ensure uninterrupted power supply to consumers.
“We have issued special directions to all the distribution companies (Discos) to form special teams for complaint redressal relating to electricity during Eid days, and to keep the complaint cells of the DISCOs active during Eid days so that any complaint regarding electricity can be promptly addressed, “, he said.
The Federal Complaint Cell (FCC) established at Ministry of Water and Power shall also remain active 24/7 for redressal of complaints relating to electricity of all distribution companies.
