RAWALPINDI - The police made tight security arrangements on the occasion of Jumatul Wida (last Friday before Eid) and a good strength of policemen carrying weapons performed duty outside mosques and Imambargahs in the city to avoid any untoward incident.
City Police Officer (CPO) Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi, besides SSP
(Operations) Karamat Ullah Malik, SPs and SDPOs, inspected the security arrangements on the occasion here on Friday.
According to details, the prayer of Juma-tul-Wida held amid tight security in all the mosques and Imambargahs of the city. The well-equipped policemen along with Elite Force commandoes and personnel of law enforcement agencies (LEAs) in civvies shielded the devotees. Talking to The Nation, CPO Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi said that police provided foolproof security arrangements to the devotees in the mosques and Imambargahs. He said that he along with other police officers had visited the mosques and Imambargahs and inspected the security arrangements.
“People entered mosques and Imambargahs after thoroughly checking,” the CPO said, adding that police is playing its due role for maintaining law and order and everybody should fight war on terror untidily. Israr Ahmed vowed that the congregations of Eid would also be guarded by a heavy contingent of police.
Meanwhile, Juma-tul-Wida, the last Friday of the holy month of Ramazan-ul-Mubarak, was observed with religious zeal and fervour. People thronged the mosques to offer Friday prayers.
On this occasion, special prayers were offered for peace progress and prosperity of the country besides liberation of Palestine from Israeli subjugation.
Ulema and Mashaikh, in their special sermons, highlighted the importance of the holy month of Ramazan, fasting, Itikaf and Juma-tul-Wida. Elaborate security arrangements have been made for security of Mosques to avoid any untoward incident.
