NAB takes notice of CAA official’s misuse of authority

Taking notice of misuse of authority by CAA, NAB Chairman Javed Iqbal ordered complaint verification against Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) officials accused of taking a PIA plane to go ‘sightseeing’ with friends.

The NAB chairman took notice of media reports which claimed that PIA passengers, returning from Skardu via a PIA flight from Islamabad, had to wait for two hours because the CAA director general allegedly took a group of friends for a special tour to Nanga Parbat on a PIA plane by misusing his authority.

In doing so, government expenses were spent just to please the friends of CAA director general. The NAB chairman ordered NAB Gilgit/Rawalpindi to probe the matter in detail and submit report in this regard.

Javed Iqbal said that PIA is a national asset and safety of this asset is our national duty. He directed to identify the real culprits involved in the so that they would be brought to justice and the lost national exchequer can be recovered from them.
