BAHAWALPUR - Kotwali police on Saturday busted a gambling den and arrested 08 gamblers and recovered the stake money. A police team headed by SHO Kotwali raided the den and arrested 08 people gambling on Rs6,370 and seized the money. The police also recovered large quantities of drugs and illegal weapons from their possession. The raid was conducted on the directives of Bahawalpur DPO Muhammad Faisal Kamran on a special information. The arrested people included Dilshad Ahmed, Ghulam Yaseen, Mohammad Waheed, Majid Noor, Mohammad Rafiq, Mohammad Kamran, Mehboob Ahmed and Mohammad Sadiq. As per details, under the special directions issued by the DPO Faisal Kamran, a team of PS Kotwali headed by the SHO Kotwali, raided at a gambling roost and arrested eight accused persons. During the operations, police also recovered 132 liters of liquor and 2200 grams of cannabis from the accused. Police recovered 02 pistols 30 bores and one repeater 12 bores from the accused. Police registered cases against the accused. Bahawalpur DPO lauded the efforts of the team and vowed to eliminate drug menace from the district. Talking to media persons he reaffirmed his commitment to making Bahawalpur district a crime free zone. Meanwhile, Bahawalpur police in an operation against outlaws have arrested five notorious robbers involved in heinous crimes of dacoity and recovered sophisticated weapons from their possession, police said. All the robbers were involved in serious cases including murder, attempted murder, rape, robbery, burglary, motorcycle theft and illegal weapons. According to details, Bahawalpur police conducted operations against burglars and robbers. Five accused were arrested. Cattles, cash, stolen bikes and other valueables worth lac of rupees were recovered from their posession. The arrested accused included Zubair, Umair, Kaleem, Hakim and Afzal. They were involved in different cases of burglary and theft and were arrested on their identification. DPO Faisal Kamran praised the Bahawalpur police who carried out the operation against the robbers. He also presented cash prizes and certificates of appreciation to the brave cops. With the arrest of such robbers and dacoits the people of the area will take sigh of relief. Many people have appreciated the police department for arresting such criminals involved in so many cases.
