LAHORE- The Contractors Association of City District Government has rejected the official orders to call applications for their pre-qualification and threatened to stop work on all ongoing projects from Friday (today). Addressing a press conference here at Lahore Press Club on Thursday, President Contractors Association Mian Khalid Sharif, Chairman Khawaja M Rafiq and Senior Vice President Mian Arshad criticised the CDGL and Punjab Government of initiating a process of pre qualification for contractors. They were of the view that the official orders for inviting such applications from the contractors were against the fundamental rights and allegedly being used to benefit their blue-eyed. They said as a result of process of pre-qualification, only big firms could survive while the hundreds of small contractors would be pushed out from the business and thousands of workers also would become jobless. The contractors said they have been working for CDG for many years and always maintained the standards of construction but the pre qualification was a conspiracy to ruin their business. They also announced to stop work at ongoing development projects demanding withdrawal of the notification regarding pre qualification.
