KARACHI Swimmer Javed Taqi and athlete Almas Ibrahim were declared the best sportspersons in mens and womens sections respectively in the 13th Sindh Games which were concluded here Wednesday with host Karachi Region clinching the overall champion trophy of the three-day event. Javed Taqi scooped seven gold from the swimming pool while Almas Ibrahim ran away with six golds on the tartan track of the National Coaching Centre where the athletics event was held. Swimmer Javed Taqi of Karachi won seven gold in 100 and 200 metre free style, 50 and 100 metre butterfly, 4x100 free style relay and 4x100 Medley relay. Track athlete Almas Ibrahim was declared the best female athlete of the Games. She picked up six gold in 200 metre, 400 metre, 800 metre, 1500 metre, 3000 metre and 4x100 metre relay in track and field events. Sindh Education Minister Pir Mazahrul Haq presided over the closing ceremony of the Games held under floodlights at Asghar Ali Shah Cricket Stadium. Also present on the occasion were Sindh Sports minister Dr MA Shah and Sindh sports secretary Shoaib Siddiqui. Dr. Shah on the occasion announced Sukkur will hold the next 14th edition of the games next year and Mirpurkhas will organize the 15th edition in 2012. The Games official statistician Irshad Ali Makhdoom has announced the final medals table of the games in which over 2000 male and female sportspersons took part in 36 sports disciplines. Men took part in 36 sports discipline and female contested in 17 disciplines. Karachi region with 122 gold won the Moenjodaro Shield awarded to the overall champion of the games. Chief guest Mrs Veena Masud handed over the swimming to Karachi who Scored 108 points by getting 12 Golds and two Silvers. The second place trophy was given to Hyderabad who scored 76 point by getting 10 silver and 4 bronze. Third place went to Larkano with 51 point with two gold and two silver and four bronze. The 4th position winner were Sukkur with seven points with one bronze. 5th position went to MirpurKhas with 3 points and no medals. Safi- Ur Rehman of Karachi got 4 golds in 50 Free Style and 50 Breast Stroke and 4x100 free style relay and 4x100 Medley relay. Hamza Khalid of Karachi Got 3 Golds and 1 silver in 200 Meter back stroke and 4x100 free style relay and 4x100 Medley relay and 100m back stroke respectively. Mohib Chandio of Larkano got 2 golds, 1 silver and 2 bronze in 50 and 100 Back Stroke, 200 Back stroke and 4x100 free style relay and 4x100 Medley relay respectively. Hamza Hameed of Karachi got two gold and one silver in 4x100 free style relay and 4x100 medley relay and 50m back stroke respectively. Ali Raza of Karachi got two golds in 100 and 200 breast stroke . Hyderabad Sadiq Rashid got 6 Silver medals in 50m, 100m, 200m Free Style and 200M Individual medley and 4x100 free style relay and 4x100 Medley relay respectively. Maaz Ansari of Hyderabad got five silvers in 50,100, 200 back, 4x100 free style relay and 4x100 Medley relay respectively. Musawar Abbasi of Hyderabad got four silver and one bronze in 100, 200 breast stroke 4x100 free style relay and 4x100 medley relay 50m breast stroke respectively. Zahid Ali Jakrani of Larkano got one silver and four bronze in 50m breast stroke, 200m free style, 50m breast stroke and 4x100 free style relay and 4x100 medley relay respectively. Ghulam Rasool Chandio of Larkano got three bronze in 100m Free Style 4x100 free style relay and 4x100 Medley relay respectively. Yasir Leghari of Hyderabad got four silvers in 50, 100m butterfly and 4x100 free style relay and 4x100 medley relay respectively. Sibghat Ullah of Sukkur got one bronze.
