GUJRAT - National Assembly Speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza has said the country has been enjoying democracy that will lead to bright future, people braved calamities like floods and the media is playing its role actively. Talking to journalists, she stressed the need for forging unity to improve the image of the country in the world, saying: The world considers us terrorists. The world community had forgotten Pakistan and Afghanistan after the Afghan War which had created the situation that more than three million Afghan refugees settled in Pakistan. She said the root cause of the terrorism was poverty. Commenting on the social sectors, she said, Health and education are in disarray and we cant succeed in achieving development and prosperity without improving in these sectors. The speaker said that the European parliaments started realising that the Pakistani parliament had been performing well whereas National Assembly demarcated equal times to the opposition parties as they deserved.
