ISLAMABAD - A subcommittee of the Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat decided on Friday to summon the NAB and FIA authorities to know the factual position and progress of inquiries into Kuri Model Village scam. CDA Member Planning Tahir Shamshad informed the committee, after that the decision came, that NAB ordinance provides that an authority/organization cannot further proceed on an issue in the presence of an ongoing inquiry into a scam by NAB investigators. The subcommittee meeting was presided over by Senator Shahid Bugti and was attended by Senators Najma Hameed and Kalsoom Pervin. Additional Secretary Cabinet, CDA Member (Planning), Member (Administration) and Director Lands were also present on the occasion. Earlier, CDA Member Administration informed that the authority had completed inquiry against its employee Rashid Sheikh, who was Assistant Director along with the main accused Director Land Dr Wasim Shamshad. He said show cause notice has already been served to Rashid Sheikh. He said the main accused in the scam Dr Wasim Shamshad has taken stay order from the court against an ongoing inquiry of the Establishment Division against him. The committee also considered the irregularities committed in housing societies including Jeddah Town, Gulburg Farm Houses and Ghori Town. The committee observed that rules were being flouted by the administrations of these societies as these schemes have never been advertised and launched without meeting the formalities and obtaining the NOC etc. The committee also took serious notice of delay in taking over of Jeddah Town by CDA saying no progress has been made despite the lapse of four years except making correspondence on papers between CDA and the NAB. The committee also sought whole record in this regard in its next meeting. CDA Member Planning also briefed the committee about the irregularities of Pakistan Medical Cooperative Housing Society and Services Cooperative Society in Sector E-11.
