Pakistan lodges protest with India

ISLAMABAD - Islamabad on Friday lodged strong protest with New Delhi over Indian Navys dangerous manoeuvres which hampered Pakistan Navy ship operation and resulted in brushing of sides of INS Godavari and PNS Babur. PNS Babur was escorting and assisting MV Suez, which was released after captivity by Somali pirates. A Foreign Office statement said the incident on Thursday constituted a serious violation of international regulations pertaining to safe conduct at high seas and of the India-Pakistan Agreement of 1991 on Advance Notice of Military Exercise Manoeuvres and Troops Movements. It said that the Indian government had been asked to ensure non-recurrence of such incidents. The protest was lodged through the Indian High Commission in Islamabad. On June 16 an Indian Navy ship Godavari not only had hampered humanitarian operations being carried out by Pakistan Navy ship Babur for Merchant Vessel Suez but also undertook dangerous manoeuvres, which resulted in the brushing of the sides of INS Godavari and PNS Babur.
