Mardan: 20 including MPA killed in funeral gathering suicide blast

Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA), Imran Mohmand and 20 others were killed and more than 40 people sustained severe injuries in the blast that targeted funeral prayer at Sher Garh locality on Wednesday.
The blast took place in funeral prayer of a local businessman named Abdullah, who was murdered the day before.
The MPA Imran Mohmand was elected as independent candidate from PK-27 but later he joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), his brother Malik Aman also injured in the same blast.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Jaffar Khan, talking to media said that it was a suicide blast.
Provincial minister for information, Shoukat Yousafzai confirmed the deaths of MPA and others.
Talking to media, he said that terrorism links with foreign policy of the state and peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa directly proportional with calm of the country.
Yousafzai added that the federal should revise foreign policy and terrorism can only end by taking exit from the war of others, he added.
Provincial General Secretary of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), Maulana Mohammad Qasim told media that he was preparing for funeral procession when the blast took place, in which many people sustained injuries but he remained safe.
President Asif Ali Zardari, while condemning death and expressing solidarity with the bereaved families of martyrs and injured directed provincial government to provide brilliant medical facilities to the injured.
Prime Minister, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said that terrorists are the enemy of humanity and killing innocent people.
He condemned the blast and expressed solidarity with the bereaved families.
Talking to media, Provincial information minister, Shoukat Ullah Yousafzai confirmed the death of Imran.
