ISLAMABAD - Pakistan squash team returned home on Monday after taking part in the WSF World Men’s Team Squash Championship 2013 where they finished 10th out of 31 participating countries.
Farhan Mahboob, Nasir Iqbal, Farhan Zaman and Sh Saqib represented Pakistan in the event while Jamshed Gul and secretary Abdul Wahab Marwat accompanied the team as head coach and manager respectively.
Talking to The Nation Jamshed said: “It was by a very respectable finish for Pakistan. Pakistan was ranked 14 and our boy’s had hardly played against the world’s best players and we were without our top player Aamir Atlas Khan, who unfortunately couldn’t make it with the team due to injury, anyhow, I am quite satisfied with the progress boys had shown.”
“My next assignment is to take junior players for the Asian Junior Individual Squash Championship which will start from June 25 in Jordan. I will impart training to both male and female players. Sadia Gul and Madina Zafar are selected to represent Pakistan in girl’s category,” he added.
“After Asian Junior, the next major task is to take junior team to Poland for World Junior Individual Squash Championship which will start from July 16 to 21,” Jamshed concluded.
