ISLAMABAD - Accountant General of Pakistan Revenue made it loud and clear on Tuesday that Auditor General of Pakistan never forced his subordinates to double his salary rather he was given monetization allowance to make his salary according to constitution.
In the backdrop of recent controversy regarding the AGP’s Salary and Transport Monetization Allowance, the AGPR office reiterated that neither the AGP is getting double salary nor he compelled this office to add any perquisite that is not allowed in the constitution. This office added the Transport Monetization Allowance in his salary is from 01.01.2012.
“The Constitution and the Auditor General of Pakistan’s Ordinance-2001 clearly state that the Auditor General shall be paid a salary which is twenty percent higher than the maximum salary payable to an officer of BPS-22,” (Schedule, Section-3 of the AGP Ordinance-2001). But when we compare the AGP’s salary with other federal secretaries, he seems to be underpaid,” the AGPR said on Tuesday.
For instance, he said, the Secretary Finance is drawing Rs.342,993 monthly salary , the Secretary Law is getting Rs.436,110/-, the Secretary General to the President is Rs.1,117,746/-, while the AGPR is drawing only Rs.398,655/- which is not even equivalent to their salaries, it explained.
The statement further said that the transport monetization allowance has been allowed to observe constitutional direction that his salary be not less favorable to a federal secretary.
