Residents of the city and adjoining villages on Tuesday experienced worst power breakdown, causing a lot of inconvenience and hardships to the general public.
It went off at 7:00am in the morning and the disruption continued till 3pm, grinding the routine life to a halt. Small shopkeepers and powerloom workers suffered the most as majority of them are working on daily wages. The water supply also remained disrupted, creating problems for the housewives.
The powerloom workers protested against the unprecedented unscheduled loadshedding and called upon the authorities to confine only to minimum/scheduled loadshedding so as to enable them make their livelihood peacefully.
RAMAZAN BAZAARS START FUNCTIONING: All the four Sasta Ramazan bazaars have started functioning at Hafizabad, Pindi Bhattian, Jalalpur Bhattian and Sukheke Mandi where stalls of fruit and vegetables, subsidised wheat flour, pulses, sugar, ghee, oil and other kitchen items are being sold at less than the prevalent market prices.
DCO Muhammad Usman on Tuesday visited Sasta Ramazan bazaar to review arrangements made by the TMA and Agriculture Department for the provision of essentials to the consumers. He expressed satisfaction over the arrangements and directed the officers concerned to ensure provision of standardised commodities to the consumers.
