PU appoints new Director ICS

LAHORE - Vice Chancellor Punjab University Dr Mujahid Kamran has appointed Dr Ahsan Akhtar Naz Associate Professor of ICS as new Director, Institute of Communication Studies (ICS) while Dr Mogheesuddin Sheikh who will continue as Dean of Behavioural & Social Sciences of the University. A notification to this effect has been issued. Dr Ahsan Akhtar Naz was working in Punjab University since the last 20 years, four years as Public Relations Officer and 16 years an academician in the University. He did his Ph D in 2000 on the topic " role of progressive movement in Pakistani journalism" and post doctoral research from Germany in 2007. Dr Naz is author of five text books on journalism while his research papers on 15 different topics have been published in leading journals. He is also columnist in a daily Urdu newspaper. The outgoing Director ICS, Prof Dr Mogheesuddin Sheikh has congratulated Dr Naz on his elevation to the new assignment. Talking to The Nation after assumption of charge of new post Dr Naz highly applauded the services of Prof Dr Mogheesuddin Sheikh for the ICS. He said the way Dr Mogheesuddin worked day and night for the development of the institute is commendable. He made solemn pledge to further bring the institute to pinnacle of glory. The faculty members and members of Old Students Alumni have congratulated Dr Naz on his promotion to the prestigious position of Director ICS. Preserve water to avoid scarcity: GCU VC GCU Vice-Chancellor Dr Khalid Aftab has urged to preserve water in order to avoid a scarcity and barrenness. He was addressing a special seminar organised by Sustainable Development Study Center on "Water Scarcity Awareness" at Bokhari Auditorium of GCU. He said we always suggest others to do well but unfortunately we never apply our suggestion on our selves. We should avoid wasting water. He said Islam is a religion, which forbids wasting of any thing, and the wasting of water is unislamic. While speaking to the seminar President Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Dr Yasmin Rashid said that GCU is promoting the leaders and its students are the real leaders. Mr Rizwan-ul-Haq, executive coordinator of Pani Pakistan, said that it's not time to think rather its time of action against water wastage. We should preserve water for the life of our generation. On the occasion, Dean of Sciences and Technology Dr Aminul Haq, faculty members and a large number of students were also present.
