ISLAMABAD - While announcing to hold protest demonstrations today (Friday) against the release of Raymond Davis, the Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has said that the release under mysterious circumstances was another betrayal by both centre and Punjab governments. Addressing a press conference here at the party central secretariat, the PTI chairman announced to hold protest demonstrations and rallies against the release of Raymond Davis with a call for a complete strike in Lahore today. He urged all the people from all walks of life, particularly the youth and students, to join the demonstrations. He said the rally would start from Lal Masjid, in Islamabad, after Juma prayer. Imran Khan condemned the release of Raymond Davis, saying it was result of a deal among the US government, Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) and Pakistan Peoples Party governments. He said the release under mysterious circumstances was another betrayal by Federal and Punjab governments. He raised a question as to why no case was registered against Davis for committing an act of terror under anti-terrorism act and why no case was registered against Davis for alleged espionage, a crime against state liable to maximum sentence. He also asked as to why the federal and provincial governments reportedly coerced the families of the victims to accepted Diyat (blood money). He stated since the US government denied paying any money to the affected families, then who paid money and from which government account. He raised another question as to why the taxpayers money was used to free an alleged killer of innocent Pakistanis.
