LAHORE The opposition legislators held the Punjab government responsible for the melodramatic ending of Raymond Davis episode, while pointing finger towards Law Minister Rana Sanaullah at the Punjab Assembly floor on Thursday. The legislators questioned Rana Sanaullahs visit to Kot Lakhpat Jail before the departure of US spy Raymond Davis. As the proceedings started, opposition leader Raja Riaz stood on a point of order and conveyed good wishes to PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif who was admitted to a London hospital due to cardiac problem. He urged the House to pray for early recovery of Nawaz Sharifs health. On a point of order, Majida Zaidi drew attention of the House towards Raymond Davis issue while holding the Punjab government responsible from dramatic release of the US spy. Senior Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Zulfiqar Khosa said the case of Raymond Davis was decided by court in the light of Shariah. He said no one should do politics on this issue. He said the government had fulfilled its responsibilities by registering case against Raymond Davis and arrested him while the court finally gave the verdict of his release. It would be unfair to blame the Punjab government on this issue, he said. Dr Akhtar Malik drew the attention of the House towards the ongoing young doctors strike. Rana Sanaullah said that a four-member house committee and a special committee headed by Sardar Zulfiqar Khosa were negotiating with the representatives of young doctors. He told the House the government would revise salary package of medics in the coming budget. The doctors had been informed that their demand would put Rs 26 billion extra burden and the government was not in a position to do it immediately, he revealed. He said the doctors had been asked to join their duties to serve the patients which was hallmark of their profession. Opposition leader Raja Riaz said PML-N had no good relations with Jamat-e-Islami, PPP, PML-Q, ANP, PML-F and even with JUI-F. He said PML-N could continue its politics of anger but it should look into the provincial departments seriously. He said Secretary Health Fawad Hasan Fawad was dealing the issues and alleged he was involved in billions of rupees embezzlement. The secretary health was a blue-eyed of the chief minister so that was the reason no action was taken against him, he blamed. He announced to boycott the proceedings to register his protest. Rana Sanaullah said PML-N could not beg to MQM like PPP again and again. He said the young doctors should join their duties but it seemed a political force was provoking them for their own motives. He said PML-N wanted to eradicate corruption and would definitely achieve this goal.
