ISLAMABAD - The US Embassy in Islamabad and the US consulates general in Lahore, Karachi and Peshawar will be closed on Friday (today). The embassy will issue an updated warden message when the embassy and the consulates general would reopen for routine business, says a US Embassy press release posted on its website on Thursday. The embassy reiterates its advice to all US citizens to take measures for their safety and security at all times. These measures include maintaining good situational awareness and avoiding crowds and demonstrations. The US citizens should avoid setting patterns by varying times and routes for all required travel. The US citizens should ensure that their travel documents and visas are valid at all times. In addition, over the next several days, we advise US citizens to avoid areas where foreigners are known to congregate, it said.
