LAHORE - Punjab Police Inspector General said on Saturday that police personnel, who sacrifice their lives in the line of duty, are valuable asset of the department and would always be remembered in golden words.

The Inspector General expressed these views while addressing relatives of martyrs, police jawans and media representatives at the office of Gujarat DPO. Gujranwala RPO Mohammad Amin Wains and police officers of Gujrat were also present on this occasion. The IG said on this occasion that the police uniform is the symbol of national trust and justice, which cannot be acquired once it is breached. He said that a day of justice is better than 60 years of worship.

He asserted that “Thana Culture” can only be changed by doing good deeds with a dutiful conscience. Later, the IG distributed an amount of Rs 12 million among heirs of the martyred constables. Constables Sibgat Azam Shaeed, Qamar Ali, Seerat Abbass and head constable Mohammad Arshad’s relatives received individual cheques of Rs 3 million.

Moreover, the IG also directed for immediate appointment of two sons/brothers of martyred constables in Police Department as per policy.

Meanwhile, the IG has announced commendation certificates for Bahawalpur RPO Abid Qadri and his team for foiling nefarious designs of terrorists to blast Imambargah in district Muzaffargrah and Police Lines Rahim Yar khan the other day by adopting a successful strategy.

It is pertinent to mention here that Bahawalpur Police had recovered six bags of explosive material, each weighing around 50 to 60 kg, along with 10 pins of detonators and a circuit board for remote control.

ASI suspended for not lodging FIR: DIG (Operations) Lahore suspended an ASI on Saturday after a victim complained against him during an open court, which was held at his office.

A man namely Muhammad Rafiq Shakir submitted a written application accusing an ASI of using delaying tactics in lodging an FIR against the accused over monetary dispute in Baghbanpura police area. Taking note of the incident, the DIG suspended the ASI and ordered SP concerned to hold inquiry against him. Similarly, other complainants including Munaza Bibi, Rasoola Bibi, Najma Bibi and etc also complained against their relatives and neighbourers. On which, the DIG directed the police personnel concerned to take action against the involved men.
