RAHIM YAR KHAN - Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested two suspects who are allegedly involved in the Khanpur terrorist attack took place near a Chehlum procession where 18 people had died.

The police also recovered 4.5 kilogrammes of explosives, detonator, electric circuit, 2 pistols and 30 rounds of bullets from their possession. Both the suspects had a plan to carry out an attack on an Imambargah of Ali Pur in district Muzafargarh but the police arrested them, the RPO Syed Abid Qadri told a press conference at his office.

He added that they belonged to banned outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi.

The RPO disclosed a police party was patrolling near the Pakistan Chowk, Khanpur where the alleged criminals were seen in suspected activities carrying bags.

The arrested persons have been identified as Majid, a resident of Rehman Colony Khanpur and Master Muhammad Nawaz of Neelgarh.

He said that they had confessed to their involvement in Khanpur bomb blast took place on January 15, 2012 and also confirmed their links with the banned organisation.
