SRINAGAR - On the directions of PM Nawaz Sharif, the recently appointed Pakistan High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit met Syed Ali Geelani in New Delhi to express his well wishes.
Basit said that Nawaz Sharif was very much concerned about Geelani's health and he directed him to personally inquire the condition of pro-freedom leader and then inform him, a statement issued here by Hurriyat Conference said.
The Hurriyat spokesman in the statement said that the Pakistan envoy along with Ubaid-ul-Rehman Nizami and other associates visited Malviya Nagar, where Geelani is putting up, in the morning and spent about 90 minutes with the ailing leader.
Basit said that the entire Pakistan nation was concerned about Geelani's health and everybody wants to know his health condition, the statement said.
"Basit also said that the Geelani is not only the leader of Kashmir, but he is the unique leader of Pakistan too.
He said that in Pakistan there are different parties and ideologies, but they fallow a single policy with respect to Geelani and he lives in everybody's heart," he said.
According to the spokesman Geelani thanked the Pakistan High Commissioner and also interacted with the delegation for some time.
The spokesman said Geelani who is suffering from chronic bronchitis and was shifted from Held Kashmir recently is recuperating fast and the results of his medical investigations are also satisfactory.
