ISLAMABAD - Noon police have arrested three persons for impersonating army officers near Haji Camp.

According to details, Noon police on a tip-off interrogated three suspects including Shehzad Mahmood, Farhan Waqar and Hassan Abbas, sitting in a car near Haji Camp and Shehzad Mahmood introduced himself as lieutenant colonel of Pak Army while the other two introduced themselves as his security guards.

The number plate of the vehicle was hidden with mud. They also produced their service cards to the police. Upon verification, all the three emerged as imposters.

The police also recovered a wireless set from the accused. All the three have been booked under sections 419, 471, 468, 420, 170 and 171 of the PPC and further investigation is under way.

Meanwhile, Islamabad police have arrested 11 outlaws from various areas of the city, besides recovering wine, weapons and looted items from their possession, a police spokesman said on Tuesday. According to details, Aabpara police arrested Farman and Naseeb for having two pistols and ammunition. Golra police arrested a bootlegger Tahir and recovered four wine bottles from him. Shehzad Town police arrested Sami and recovered one 30-bore pistol from him while Koral police nabbed Saleem in possession of one 30-bore pistol. Sihala police arrested two persons Temur Shah and Rasool for selling petroleum products illegally. Bhara Kahu police arrested two dacoits identified as Zohaib and Yaseen while Ramana police arrested two thieves Ghaus and Munir. Cases have been registered against these nabbed persons and further investigation is under way.  

Furthermore, Islamabad police have arrested 20 suspects during a search operation conducted in various areas of the city. Police teams conducted search in the areas of Sector H-10 and Sector I-11/4. They succeeded to nab 20 suspects who are being investigated further.
