ECE centres planned in PEF partner schools

LAHORE - A joint meeting of Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) and Directorate of Staff Development (DSD) was held on Tuesday at PEF Head office which was mutually chaired by MD PEF Dr Aneela Salman and Project Director DSD Ehsan Bhutta.
The meeting was also attended by PEF Program Directors and the concerned staff of DSD. On the occasion, launching of Early Childhood Education (ECE) project in the selected PEF partner schools was considered in detail.
Addressing the meeting, Dr Aneela Salman shown keen interest in introduction of ECE project in the selected partner schools across the province to facilitate the small kids’ education in the kids rooms which were especially designed and set up to meet the specific needs of the toddlers.
She hoped that this facility would prove very conducive for the economically deprived families; also helping in improving enrollment and retention. This would wholly support the working mothers to admit their small kids in the partner schools. She asked the Director (CPDP) Bushra Saeed Khan to initiate spade work in this regard and said that the professional expertise of DSD will also be asked for.
PD DSD Ehsan Bhutta disclosed that ECE centers have already been developed in as much as 1285 selected schools across the province with an amount of Rs. 192 million; adding that ECE is an important component of Punjab Education Sector Roadmap Program wherein launching of ECE has been envisaged in five thousand government schools, every year. He further said that TT Singh is being modeled with regard to launch of ECE and a total of 1148 ECE centers will be set up in the district.
Earlier, DSD's representatives namely Shahid Saleem, Ayub Bilal and Yasmin briefed the participants about various aspects of ECE under the aegis of Directorate of Staff Development.
