Islamabad- Government has decided to contact the British government to pursue the FIR, filed by Rangers, against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain .

According to reports, the copy of the FIR lodged against Altaf Hussain , has been received by the Interior Ministry and three points regarding Altaf Hussain’s possible handover are being examined. Sources claim that Altaf Hussain’s handover with the help of Interpol will be examined in the first phase. In the second phase, Altaf Hussain’s return under the agreement on exchange of criminals will be examined while providing proofs against Altaf Hussain to Scotland Yard will be examined in the third.

It is pertinent to mention here that the case against Altaf Hussain had been registered by Colonel Tahir of Rangers. The FIR quoted Altaf Hussain’s statements on a TV show ridiculing the Rangers and threatening their lives. The FIR also included the sub-section H and N of the Article 7 (80) – A of Terrorism Act and Article 506 for threatening to kill. The FIR No. is 2015/30 and the FIR quoted Altaf Hussain as saying that the Rangers officials who had attacked his house in Karachi would ‘soon become history’.

SSP Investigation-1 Faizullah Korejo has been charged with investigating the matter. It is the first case registered against Altaf Hussain since 1992. Dozens of cases had been filed against Altaf Hussain in 1992.

MQM delegation visited Civil Lines Police Station to get a copy of the FIR, but none of the officers was present at the police station at that time so the delegation left.
