DCO Muhammad Usman has stressed the need for complete unity and harmony among all segment of society to thwart the evil designs of terrorists and anti-state elements who were hell-bent on denting interfaith harmony to achieve their evil designs.

Addressing the meeting of District Peace Committee and Interfaith Harmony Committee here on Tuesday, he said that the nation had shown complete solidarity with the government and armed forces to eliminate terrorism but in view of the recent barbaric attack on two churches in Lahore, killing scores of innocents and later lynching of two innocents by the mob was an eye-opener for all the sane elements.

The DCO and other participants of the meeting strongly condemned the killings and expressed solidarity with the bereaved families.  He said that Christian community was playing a vital role in the progress and prosperity of the country and their patriotism was beyond any doubt. Mr Usman said that terrorists had no religion whatsoever and they were targeting innocent people belonging to all religion.

In his address, MPA Asadullah Arain said that the government was taking all-out efforts to wipe out the menace of terrorism and with the cooperation and vigilance of people the menace would be weeded out.

DPO Shakir Hussain Dawar and Syed Waseemul Hassan Naqvi of Jamaatul Suffa said that terrorists were attempting to destabilise the country and all and sundry should play the role of ‘Sepy’ to contain them. They also stressed the need for tolerance and forbearance and should not utter a single word which might injure the sentiments of other faith or religion. The DPO has said that in view the Lahore incident the police in the district have been put on red alert.  

Prominent among those who addressed the meeting included Padri Salman, Padri Ishaq Javed, Father Mushtaq Payara, Syed Hussain Ali, Mian Zeeshan Abbas Bhatti, Amanullah Chatha, Malik Nazakat Ali Phularwan, Rana Muhammad Saeed who reaffirmed that they would ensure traditional peace in the area. Later,  Maulana Ahmad Saeed led the prayer for early elimination of terrorism and one minute silence was observed in the meeting for those who were killed in Lahore incident.

rally against EDO ‘forced’ transfer: Different teachers associations and APCA took out a rally which was led by District Chairman Muttahida Mahaz Asataza Riaz Ahmad Tarar, SES Teachers Association President Muhammad Abu Bakar Alvi, Senior Staff Teachers Association President Fiaz Ahmad Warraich, PETA President Ghulam Jaffar Bajwa, President Educators Rana Waqar Ahmad, President Graduate Teachers Union Shabbir Ahmad Gujjar, President Punjab Teachers Union Mushtaq Ahmad Chattha, President IT Association Aqeel Azad, SSK Teachers President Mian Ghulam Abbas and APCA President Nasrullah Hunjra to protest against the transfer of honest and dedicated Executive District Officer (EDO) Education Muhammad Ashraf Harl on political grounds. The protestors demonstrated in front of Press Club Hafizabad where they raised slogans against the blue-eyed boys of the ruling party which had humiliated the EDO for not bowing to their pressure regarding transfer of their favourite teachers and later manoeuvred his transfer on political grounds. They demanded cancellation of transfer orders of the EDO and warned that the teachers would not tolerate political interference in the education department and declared that they would continue protest demonstration till the cancellation of his transfer orders.
