LAHORE - The National Transmission and Despatch Company Limited (NTDC) has replaced two 250 MVA transformers both at 220Kv grid station Bahawalpur and 220Kv grid station Burhan near Hasan Abdal.

Replacement of the transformers will improve voltage profile and help to eliminate tripping and forced loadshedding in MEPCO, IESCO and PESCO areas especially during upcoming summers.

The NTDCL spokesman said that the company had chalked out a comprehensive plan for mitigation of forced loadshedding, low voltage and tripping which occurs due to overloading of grid system especially during summers. Since, electricity demand increases due to usage of air conditioner throughout the country. The enhanced capacity of replaced transformers of 160 MVA with 250 MVA will reduce transmission system losses and facilitate DISCOs to create space/cushion in the distribution system to provide new connections. However, distribution companies will also be able to sell more energy to the terms of Rs 30-33 million per month. In compliance with the plan, NTDC engineers and staff has replaced one 250 MVA transformers at 220 Kv Grid Station Burhan which will benefit the industrial and domestic consumers of Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) and Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) particularly in  Abbotabad, Manshera, Hattar, Haripur, Pakistan Ordinance Factory, Taxila, Fateh Jang, Jhand, New Wah, Sanjwal, Old Kamra, Attok, Bassal, Gondal, Faqeerabad, Aeronautical complex Kamra and Nizam cement factory.

The spokesman further said that another transformer with capacity of 250 MVA has also been installed at 220 Kv Grid Station Bahawalpur, whereas a transformer with same capacity was installed earlier in Dec 2014 to redreress the problems of the consumers. The induction of new transformers will benefit the industrial, rural and urban consumers of Bahawalpur division, Ahamdpur Sharqia, Lodhraan, Samma Satta and Lal Sohanra.

Managing Director, NTDCL appreciated the engineers and staff for their hard work and tireless efforts for completing the augmentation work at 220 Kv Grid station  Bahwalpur and 220 Kv Grid Station Burhan.
