LAHORE - Commissioner for Overseas Commission Punjab, Afzaal Bhatti, proposed on Tuesday that all overseas Pakistanis with National Identity Cards for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOPs) should be allowed to visit Pakistan at the expiry of their NICOPs so that they could have them renewed without any hassle.

At a meeting with Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan in Islamabad, he also suggested that the presence of Nadra and passport officials in the diplomatic missions abroad be strengthened.

The minister directed the relevant quarters to constitute a task force for the facilitation of expatriate Pakistani community.

During the meeting, Nisar Ali Khan said a proposal was already under consideration to allow online Nadra registration and entertaining applications for passports for the convenience of the overseas Pakistanis.

The minister also directed the ministry to work out a robust mechanism for further strengthening coordination among the FIA, NADRA and passport offices so that problems being faced by overseas Pakistanis could be resolved effectively.
