District Officer Agriculture (DOA) Khashal Faiz Muhammad Kundi has advised the farmers to adopt proper measures during cultivation of every corp. He was speaking at a seminar titled in connection held in connection with Youm-e-Kashtkaran here on Tuesday.
“Farmers should remove weeds from fields and surroundings to save the crops,” he said. “Gram is very important crop for Thal. It contains a large quantity of proteins, vitamins, iron and calcium. The economy of rainfed farmers depends on successful production of gram crop,” he added.
According to the DO Agriculture, constraints in gram crop production are poor quality seed, diseases, insects, weeds and rainfall, use of good quality seed with high yielding and approved varieties and timely used control at early stage of crop and weeds growth can increase yield of gram crop significantly.
Agriculture Institute Sargodha Deputy Director Dr Muhammad Ahmad Noor, DDO Agriculture Rana Khan Bhodhar Jave, DDO Agriculture Quaridabad Ghulam Yasin and Agriculture Officer Noorpur Thal Dr Muhammad Sibtain also spoke on the occasion.
Field Assistant Malik Muhammad Yaqoob conducted the proceedings. The farmers from all villages of the Thal participated in the event.
