It was a very tough day for hockey players as two of them Humair Rana and Rizwan Junior received injuries as their left ankles were badly twisted on the first day of the training camp established here at the Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium Tuesday.

A total of 27 players out of 33 reported to head coach Shahnaz Sheikh at Pakistan Sports Complex. Talking to The Nation, Shahnaz said: “The boys looked quite rusty and they will take 3 to 4 days to settle down. They have only played in local tournaments and now they have to undergo full-fledged training. But I am sure they will start regaining match fitness well before the start of the international tour.” When asked about Naseer Bunda astro-turf condition, Shahnaz said: “It is in much better position now and PSB DDG Facilities Agha Amjed Ullah has promised to further work on the remaining areas.”  “We will give rest to these injured boys and they will start training in next couple of days. In the meantime Rashid and Rizwan Senior will also join camp by March 20. The quality of food provided by assistant director hostels Malik Imtiaz was as expectedly up-to-the-mark and boys are very happy and me too,” Shahnaz concluded.
